Beyond 1932 Artist-in-Residency Programme

As part of my postdoctoral fellowship at King’s College London, I run the Beyond 1932 Artist Residency Programme, curating performances, installations and workshops across different venues in London (Cafe OTO, Kunstraum, The British Library, Greenwood Theatre).

Between 2024-2027, six artists across the fields of sound art, experimental and electroacoustic music reflect on the sonic and colonial legacy of the 1932 Cairo Congress of Arabic Music. As a platform of knowledge-exchange between academics and practitioners, panels and performances look into music pedagogy, contemporary archival practices, notation and tuning, and multidisciplinary performance practices.
