Combining engaged listening and banner making, this interactive listening session makes audible the testimony of Palestinians in Gaza, from singing on Gaza beach, to a beloved bookshop in Gaza City, to an aunt’s farmland in Rafah. Words materialise on textile while sounding in space, highlighting the importance of engaging with all our senses to understand the lived experience of Gazans under occupation and genocide. Following this session, join poet and writer Shad Alnaami (in Gaza via Zoom), art collective Ambient Gaza, and textile artist Rim Irscheid to discuss Gazan life, challenge dehumanising media representation, and celebrate stories and joyous experiences. Participants will be able to leave responses to Gazans to share thoughts and wishes with communities who generously share their stories with us.
Doors are 6pm, please note the listening session starts promply at 7.30pm.
Tickets are free (donation-based), but registration required: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/mapping-resistance-an-evening-of-collective-listening-to-gazan-voices-tickets-1992085675882
